This book in intended for software developers who are unfamiliar with GDE tools and want to understand how to use them. They will find this book very useful. The reader is expected to know how to use a text editor, understand the C and C++ languages, but it should not be necessary to understand the UNIX build environment. To take full advantage of this book, however, it would be very helpful to have access to a UNIX or Linux machine with the GDE installed.
