Just like for your first experimentations with Autoconf, it is a good idea to build a tiny test suite independent of all the heavy GNU Build System machinery. Since GNU M4 is an excellent example of a package to exercise, this section is devoted to playing with Autotest on GNU M4. Then the next section, Autotesting GNU M4, taking advantage on our experience, will tackle the problem of embedding the test suite in the whole package.
